“I’m dedicated to being a great example to my daughter and to also [my friend] Jessica’s daughter.”

“The picture is of me and my daughter, Morgan (tall one), and of Sara. Sara is the daughter of another triathlete, Jessica MacLachlan. For starters, the Ramblin Rose is always an exciting event for me/us. This was my 2nd Ramblin’ Rose, 3rd triathlon overall. Jessica and I bike on trainers while her youngest son naps [for an hour] if we are lucky! Morgan is on our local town’s swim team, so for both training purposes and to spend time with her, I swim with her, in the far lane. Training for running, I usually do one of two things. I either have Morgan ride her bike while I run with her (somewhat quality time which she enjoys) or while she is in karate I run or do cardio at the building directly beside the karate building. My personal key point is to make sure Morgan is happy without sacrificing training. Fitness is key. You must take care of yourself in order to take care of them. Creating a solid foundation with the help of healthy competition among other things is very important for young strong ladies. I work a full time, swing shift job, which is very physical— I build tires. Jessica is a full time Mom of three, homes schools and she is nonstop volunteering.”
