On June 2, nearly 1,000 runners took to the streets of historic downtown Durham for the fourth annual Running of the Bulls 8k. This community road race and USATF state championship has grown over the past few years to become a marquee road race that attracts competitive and recreational athletes from across the state. After a challenging, scenic course along Main Street and many revitalized neighborhoods in Durham, runners finish with a lap of the warning track inside the old Durham Athletic Park.

The men were a pack of five at the two-mile mark with Devin Swann (24:57) eventually pulling away to earn his second USATF 8k championship. Caitlin Chrisman (28:32) won her third consecutive USATF state 8k championship. Other notable performances include Joan Mabe (31:55), age record holder for women 50-54, and Catherine Wides (34:51), age record holder for women 60-64.
