I love the holiday season.  Love it!  For the past two years I’ve wrapped up my season with a Turkey Trot and quickly commenced with the type of holiday eating indulgence that fitness bloggers warn you about.  Bring on the pounds, I say.  Worst case scenario:  a little extra weight motivates me to try harder in the new year.  Now, I have to admit that I have noticed a slow-down in my metabolism over the past few years.  I didn’t realize, however, that it would go on permanent vacation after I turned 45 last year.  So, I am going to throw my metabolism a curve ball and try something new in 2015.  While I hope to continue being a “Zen Runner” who runs in the rain and sleet and snow and heat I am going to take my training indoors for the first time in my life.  I am now the proud owner of a fitness center membership and will be building group fitness classes into my training schedule for 2015.  My next step is to pick a goal race to build my training plan around and I’ve already seen some good events while editing the calendar section of this event guide you have in your hands right now.  In fact, there are over 1,000 great events in the endurance sports community listed in this issue alone!

In fact, everything we do here at Endurance Magazine is geared towards cultivating the endurance sports community and connecting you to the many great events in your community.  Whether we’re publishing inspiring stories of every day people who have overcome tremendous obstacles because of their desire to participate in an endurance event, changing the lives of women through our beginner triathlon series, or producing great running events like the Tar Heel 10 Miler and Bull City Race Fest & Food Truck Rodeo, we want you to be a healthy and successful runner, cyclist, swimmer, or obstacle course racer with access and information to the best races around. One of the best tools you can use to find races, events, clinics and classes to enhance your lifestyle is www.SPORToften.com.

As you will find in this issue, our 7th Annual SPORToften.com Event Guide, SPORToften is much more than comprehensive listing of events, especially if you are a race director, or a would-be-race-director looking to raise money for your charitable efforts.  SPORToften is YOUR marketing solution.  SPORToften connects your event with one of the largest active communities in America. Just by listing your event in our calendar you receive repeated exposure to tens of thousands of runners, cyclists, and triathletes looking for their next experience.

Just how large is the SPORToften community?  SPORToften has over 250,000 online members, receives more than 260,000 monthly website impressions, and has more than 130,000 opt-in subscribers to its newsletter.  The people who visit our site and read our newsletter are among the thousands of women who participated in our Ramblin’ Rose series last year, the nearly 6,000 runners who participated in our Tar Heel 10 Miler, as well as the 6,000 runners who participated in our Bull City Race Fest & Food Truck Rodeo.  We’ve grown our own events with SPORToften and our marketing professionals here at Endurance Magazine want to help you drive registration growth for your event, too.

We here at Endurance Magazine inherently believe that your success is a reflection of ours!  Whether that success is growing an event, achieving a personal best, or getting inspired to do an event you never though possible before, we want to help you be your best.  In addition to over 1,000 events for you to choose from in this issue, we also offer some great training advice as well as another awesome recipe – be sure to try this one out!  I made Brandon McDearis’ Baby Bok Choy with Cashews myself and can tell you it’s one of the most delicious, healthy and flavorful dishes you’ll ever have!
