Pirates, pirates everywhere, from runner costumes to expo decorations and all the way to the post-race party! Pirates rule at this well-organized, professional, fun event. All participants receive a unique finisher medal, great swag and an outstanding event shirt. Two shirts and three medals are earned if you choose the Double Dare Challenge – running the 5k on Saturday and the half on Sunday.

The scenic point-to-point course begins in Kitty Hawk, runs along the Albemarle Sound, around the Wright Brothers National Memorial, and through Nags Head Woods Maritime Forest, finishing with a Pirate Jamboree in Nags Head. Runners and their friends and family will enjoy live music, food and beer (for those 21 and older). Prizes for best pirate costume will be judged on enthusiasm and creativity. Arrrggghh!

This year expect the best from Outer Banks Sporting Events as they prepare for the fifth annual Flying Pirate Half Marathon. The 13.1-mile course is manned by enthusiastic local volunteers and student groups cheering the runners and handing out water and Gatorade.

Find your inner pirate and bring it to the race May 3-4, 2014. See you there, Matey!

Outer Banks Sporting Events donates 100 percent of net profits to the Dare Education Foundation and the Outer Banks Relief Foundation.
