We love to ride bikes here at Endurance Magazine. Our sheds and garages are filled with road, mountain, triathlon and commuter bikes. A few of us like to sport our fixies on the way to that little hipster coffee shop. We vacation in the mountains and sometimes that ride from the cabin to nearest road gets a little bumpy so we have a special bike for that, too. We all have one thing in common though. We buy our bikes from local bike shops. Sure, you can save a lot by buying online but, unless you know your frame size, preferred angles, and top-tube length, your best bet is to pick a price range, consider the type of riding you want to do, and then plan a trip to your LBS. Check out our showcase of bikes for the types of cycling we like to do.

2015 Trek Fuel EX 8 27.5 | MSRP $2939.99

When we want to go deeper into the mountains we like to ride Trek’s Fuel EX 8 27.5, a classic trail bike that lets you push your own limits, as well as those of a 120mm-travel bike. Chalk that up to the Fuel’s 27.5 tubeless-ready, thru-axle wheels and CTD-equipped Fox suspension. That travel is controlled with Trek’s ABP rear end and Full Floater linkage that keeps your rear wheel in full control, even during hard, fast braking.

2015 Cervelo P3 Ultegra 6800 | MSRP $4299.99

You’ll clearly see the P3’s lineage in this frame that incorporates the aero and performance benchmarks of the category-leading P5. The new P3 collects many of the engineering advances Cervelo made with the P5, and through their industrial design process sketches and smoothes them together to create a bike with speed built in. The new P3 is both stiffer and faster than its predecessor. Whether you’re on a regular training ride or setting a new personal best, the P3 delivers motivation by design.
