Advancing Spine Research With Every Step

Spine injuries and disorders affect millions of people each year, from the intense pain of a herniated disc to paralysis from a traumatic injury. As the largest private neurosurgery practice in the nation, Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates has made a dramatic difference for thousands of patients who suffer from spine disorders. Now, in celebration of its 75th Anniversary, the practice is hosting the inaugural Back On Track 5K Run/Walk to raise money and awareness for spine research.

“Since 1940, this practice has been here to help patients with spine injuries and disorders. So we thought it was only fitting to establish this 5K event to raise awareness for spine research. We’re in this for the long run,” said practice CEO Mary Cloninger.

The Back On Track 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, October 10th in Charlotte. The event course will begin at the 225 Baldwin Avenue office of Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates and continue through the historic Myers Park and Dilworth neighborhoods. Proceeds from the event will go to The Spinal Research Foundation.

Over the past 75 years, Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates has helped patients with debili- tating back pain get back on their feet and participate in future 5Ks, marathons and triathlons. The practice offers nonsurgical treatment options such as on-site physical therapy and therapeutic injections, as well as the most advanced surgical techniques. Forty- five physicians at the practice in the specialty areas of neurosurgery, physical medicine & rehabilitation (physiatry), orthopaedic spine surgery, and pain management provide a comprehensive multidisci- plinary approach to spine diagnosis and treatment.

“Whether you have overcome a spine disorder or know someone who is living with a back problem,” said Cloninger, “this will be a fun event and positive way to help make a difference.”
