Poughkeepsie, New York, native Helen Antipov, 47, has been running about four years and is the owner of Comfort Keepers, an in-home care provider for seniors in Durham and Orange counties. Antipov says she likes to runs to stay in shape and not worry about what she eats even though she does have a very healthy diet.

“This is my time to think,” adds the 2014 Boston Marathon participant. “I totally enjoy being outside. I never run on a treadmill.” She lists the marathon as her favorite distance and says the 2014 Boston Marathon was her most memorable race. “The amount of support we received from the spectators was absolutely incredible. And of course, crossing the finish line and honoring those from the prior year was the most amazing experience.”

Antipov recalls another great running experience as well. While training for the Boston Marathon, she was running in Durham and ran past 9th Street Active Feet. “They had a large banner hung outside supporting the upcoming Boston Marathon. It said ‘BOSTON – You Will Run Again.’”

WHAT ANTIPOV HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE BULL CITY RACE FEST & FOOD TRUCK RODEO:

I really enjoyed the course. I had run many parts of it in previous training runs. I also enjoyed the beer and food at the end!
