EVENT PREVIEW – 7th Annual Paws for Life 5k Road Race & One-Mile Dog Walk

Wake Forest, N.C., Oct. 22

The 7th Annual Paws for Life 5k Road Race and One-Mile Dog Walk is Saturday, Oct. 22, in Wake Forest, N.C. This event features a competitive certified course, as well as a family-friendly one-mile walk. The one-mile walk is for dogs and walkers. The 5k race is for runners and walkers; no dogs are allowed. The event benefits the Franklin County Humane Society (FCHS), and 100% of the proceeds go toward the organization’s two main programs.  FCHS’s foster program allows it to rescue animals from local shelters, provide them medical care, food and supplies, and house them in volunteers’ homes until forever homes can be found. FCHS’s low-cost spay and neuter program, known as SNIF, allows low-income residents of Franklin County to have their pets spayed or neutered for a low copay. FCHS receives no county funding or grants, so this race is very important to the organization and the animals of Franklin County.

The registration fee includes a race T-shirt and dog bandana (for dog-walk participants only). All participants will be enrolled in a raffle to benefit FCHS, but additional tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event. A raffle drawing will immediately follow the race.
