 Swim For Smiles
The Swim for Smiles Foundation is excited to announce that registration for the 2nd Annual Swim for Smiles Youth Triathlon is open. A USAT certified triathlon, the race has both a long course course and a short course category aimed at 7-17 year olds. To check out the race, or to register, click the link above. Tamara is an award-winning photographer whose images have been described as expressive, authentic, and moving. She has received national recognition in her industry, profiled in Rangefinder Magazine and invited to speak at seminars throughout the country.
Her work has appeared in a variety of publications, including Vogue, O Magazine, Town & Country, Martha Stewart Living, Elle, Inside Weddings, and Parenting Magazine. Her photography as also been showcased on The Martha Stewart Show, and her new book about contemporary photography will be available in bookstores nationwide in the Fall of 2008.
Tamara's notable shoots include a high-spirited cover shoot of Senator Barack Obama, shooting 3-time Modern Bride cover model Abigail Forman's "real" wedding, a relaxed portrait session with her favorite San Francisco football legend, Joe Montana ... and every time she captures the seriously wonderful essence of her children.
Chapel Hill Home Theater and Design
Chapel Hill Home Theatre Design and Swim for Smiles are proud to support the 2008 Carrboro Classic Endurance Sports Festival. Both were founded by Chapel Hill-resident Gary Kayye. Swim for Smiles is a non-profit foundation which raises money for the North Carolina Children’s Hospital through swimming-related events for kids, including a Youth Triathlon. Chapel Hill Home Theatre Design is home entertainment design firm, providing whole house audio, home theatre, and interior design services. We are proud to support those that work hard and play hard.
Gatorade Endurance Formula will be provided on the course as well as at the finish area!
Clif Shot Blocks will be available at the finish line!
Whole Foods Market is providing Bananas for this event!
 South Orange Rescue Squad will be keeping you safe while you race.

In step with our efforts to reduce waste and, moreover, limit our environmental impact, we have done away with the traditional (90% paper/ 10% plastic) race bag.
[we are saving at least 15,000 pieces of printed paper not to mention 500 plastic bags!]
At packet pickup you will get what you need to race - period (your bib, T-shirt, and waiver).
Every participant will receive a re-useable water bottle at the finish line that you can use to get some tasty refreshment at our post-race coolers (we have also done away with individually packaged drinks :)
As well - there will be Clif Shots at the finish!

The Carrboro Classic is a wonderful opportunity to socialize and compete in an organized sports environment. Novice athletes can use this event to improve their overall health and fitness while more experienced athletes can compete on a challenging yet beautiful course. We believe our community-based events that promote physical fitness and personal growth opportunities are integral to the overall health and well-being of our town. We hope everyone enjoys the Endurance Sports Festival and we thank Endurance Magazine for organizing such an exciting event for the Chapel Hill and Orange County area.
Join Endurance Magazine by supporting your local farmers! Stanley Hughes from the Pine Knot Farm will be at the Carrboro Classic with his freshly-grown organic veggies, such as kale, collards, sweet potatoes, winter squash, mustard greens, lettuce, and savoy cabbage.
In addition, Leslie Heinzeman from Sari Sari Sweets will be selling her famous baked goods. Leslie is known for her ever-popular baked goods, including oatmeal fig flaxseed treats, banana chocolate chip bread, apple turnovers, cheddar chipotle cornmeal biscuits, and other specialty treats.
Both of these farmers are known to sell out every Saturday at the Carrboro Farmers Market, so be sure to visit them. Remember to bring a reusable bag along with you.
