Pre-Race ClinicS

Wed, May 16th @ 6:00 PM & Sat, May 19th @ 3:30 PM

Meet at the pool house.

Monette Williams with Triangle Multisport will be offering a FREE pre-race clinic at the AE Finley YMCA (Ramblin' Rose Venue!).

Monette will demonstrate transition set up for swim to bike and bike to run, give tips for the course and racing, and answer questions to help make your Ramblin' Rose experience one to remember. This clinic is perfect for the first-timer and beginner triathlete.  No gear is required.  If you are unfamiliar with the course and are a visual learner then this clinic is for you.  The free clinic will start at the pool area where you will be able to see how the swim is organized, where you will exit the pool, and head in to the Transition Area.  The clinic will review strategies for the swim, bike, run as well as how to maneuver through the Transition Area.  You have been preparing for this race physically so use this clinic to mentally prepare for a fun day!

LECTURE/TALK from Run Like A Mother

2 PM, May 19th Inside-out SPorts Raleigh

TLAMDimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea are authors of Run Like a Mother (Andrews McMeel, 2010) and the just-released Train Like a Mother (Andrews McMeel, 2012). Both books are filled with essays and advice (Sarah and Dimity are contributing editors for Runner's World and each have a few triathlons under their belts--Dimity has her sights set on a half-Ironman this fall); their writing style is witty and conversational--like how girlfriends talk to each other on a run.

TLAM2The books cover everything from attire, injury prevention, recovery, nutrition, returning to running post-partum, and dealing with your period on race day. Sarah and Dimity foster an online community of women runners on Facebook (Run Like a Mother: The Book), online (www.anothermotherrunner.com), and on iTunes with their biweekly podcast called Another Mother Runner. In their talk, they'll be sharing tips on how to enhance both your race day performance--and enjoyment.
