Chris Lieto has always had the best view in triathlon. That’s because he’s a really good swimmer, and the greatest cyclist in the sport. At Ironman, you will most likely find him leading the bike and exiting T2 first. He’s been criticized for not being a better runner and losing races in the third discipline, but he sees it differently. I caught up with Chris to find out more about his perspective.

Swimmers in the PPD Beach2Battleship Triathlon prepare to compete in a competition named one of the best iron distance events in the world by Triathlete magazine.  The PPD Beach2Battleship Triathlon is just one of the many reasons North Carolina is an amazing place for triathletes to live and train.  Participants from 12 nations and 41 states competed in the event in 2011 alone.

The May Swim for Smiles Youth Triathlon in Chapel Hill was the largest of its kind in the country - with over 800 participants. And, USAT along with the Brader-Araje Foundation, awarded the organization a grant specifically with the goal of growing the sport of youth triathlon. So, they've partnered with the brand-new Greensboro Aquatics Center (GAC) to bring the Triad's first-ever USA-Triathlon sanctioned race with the same course as Youth Nationals.

Shown here at a Rev3 Triathlon, professional triathlete Jordan Rapp set a course record in winning the 2009 Ford Ironman Arizona triathlon.  Four months later, he was nearly killed in a horrifying accident that shattered his face, collarbone and shoulder.  Eight months after his accident, Jordan capped an amazing comeback when he finished fourth at the same race he won a year prior.
