PAPER APPLICATION:
Expedite race day registration by completing the paper registration form beforehand. Make sure you bring cash or a personal check made out to "Endurance Magazine" with you when you register. DO NOT mail registrations to Endurance Magazine before the event.
RULES:
MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum age for the duathlon distances on race day is 10 years old, which is determined by the age on December 31, 2009. For example, if the participant is 9 on race day, but turns 10 before December 31, he/she meets the minimum age requirement.
All athletes 17 and under MUST have an annual USAT Youth Membership ($5). Go to www.usatmembership.com to purchase your membership before race day and remember to bring your card to packet pick-up.
The required minimum age for the Wild West 8k is 8 years old.
BIKE COURSE:
No drafting! Draft Marshals will be on the course and drafting rules will be enforced! They will also make sure that all bikes have bar end plugs. All turns will be clearly marked with signs. Do NOT rely on the volunteers for directions. We strongly encourage that every participants pre-ride the bike course. Hard shell helmets must be worn and must be fastened before leaving the transition area. Always stay to the right to allow faster cyclists to pass on the left. Bike frame numbers that are provided must be attached to the top tube of the bike near the handlebars. Helmet numbers provided must be affixed to the front of your helmet. No headphones, earphones or any radio-type devices will be allowed. Police will be positioned at the appropriate corners to stop traffic. Volunteers will be at corners with orange flags. There is a Water Bottle Hand off near Chestnut Ridge Church Road and Borland Road.
This bike course will be open to traffic - BE ALERT and BE CAREFUL!
RELAYS:
Runners must tag bikers at their designated bike rack location in the transition area. Bikers must tag runners at the same location - your designated bike rack location in the transition area. Team members should exchange the timing chip and Velcro band at this point.

top 3 male/female, top 3 Masters male/female, top 3 male/female in the following categories: 15 & under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.
RELAYS:
top 3 male relays, top 3 female relays, top 3 mixed relays
NOTE:
The Carrboro Classic Endurance Sports Festival reserves the right to add/delete categories and awards prior to race day based on participation. Final results will be posted on the website within 24 hours of the race. Awards will NOT be mailed out - if you can't be present to collect your award, please make arrangements to have someone pick it up for you.
PACKET PICK-UP:
LOCATION & TIMES:
McDougle Middle School, 900 Old Fayetteville Rd, Chapel Hill, 27516, [map] from 2:30-6:30 PM on Saturday, April 4th. Race day packet pick-up will also be available at the race site from 6:00-7:30 AM.
PACKET PICK-UP GUIDELINES:
NO ID = NO RACE (NO EXCEPTIONS)
1. Participants MUST have one of the following: valid annual USAT membership, one-day adult USAT membership ($10), or annual youth USAT membership for those 17 or under. One-day memberships are NOT available for youth.
2. Athletes may only pick up their own packets. Under no circumstances may an athlete pick up a packet for another person.
3. Relay members must be present to receive the packet.
4. Non-USAT members that purchase a one-day license must sign the USAT waiver.
5. Participants 17 years or under MUST purchase an annual youth USAT membership. These are available for $5 and can be purchased at www.usatmembership.com.
REFUNDS/TRANSFERS:
Registration fees are non-refundable. Event registrations are non-transferable between events, individuals, or years.
Participants can switch races on Packet Pick-Up day, but NOT on race day. This option is contingent on whether the desired race has filled.
For those switching to a shorter race distance, refunds will NOT be granted. For those switching to a more longer race distance, you must pay the difference.

PARKING:
McDougle Middle School parking lot
TRANSITION AREA:
The transition area will open at 6:00 AM and close at 7:45 AM, 15 minutes prior to the start of the race. You must have your bike and equipment in the transition area by that time. If you arrive after that time, you will not be allowed to place your equipment in the transition area. The transition area is located in the track field at McDougle Middle School. The bike racks will be numbered. No glass containers inside the transition area. No bike storage the night before the race. Participants only in the transition area. You must mount and dismount your bike at the mount/dismount line located in the parking lot. Do not ride your bike in the TA.
A brief pre-race meeting will take place 10 minutes prior to the race start. Athletes for all races should plan to be there for any last minute instructions/announcements.
TIMING:
This is a chip-timed event.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
The excellent technicians from The Bicycle Chain will once again be supporting the Carrboro Classic. They'll be providing pre-race wrenching as well as SAG vehicle support out on the bike course.
