Did you make a New Year’s resolution to get in shape, run your first 10K, or hit a new PR?  Florence Forth is the event for you! And you’ve got time to get ready for it.  Check the website for an 8-week training plan.

The third annual Florence Forth road race on March 7, 2015 includes a 10K race and a 5K community run-walk.  Both races are USATF certified and start at 8 a.m. in the heart of Durham’s Ninth Street business district.  Register by January 9th for the lowest price.

The 10K competitive road race offers a $1,000 cash purse for the top finishers.  With a rolling course, the 10K provides a great tune up for spring distance races or an opportunity to stretch from the 5K to a longer distance.

The 5K community run/walk takes a beautiful route through Durham’s historic neighborhoods and business districts and is perfect for the whole family.

The Florence Forth road race is held in memory of Florence McDow, who died on March 4th, 2012 at age six after many years of battling autoimmune encephalitis.   All race proceeds benefit the Autoimmune Encephalitis Alliance (https://aealliance.org), a Durham-based nonprofit focused on improving care, expanding treatment and seeking a cure for autoimmune encephalitis.

You can achieve your New Year’s goal.  Join 1,500 race participants in Durham on March 7th.  Keep your resolutions while raising awareness and funds for AE.
